Harris urges Trump to debate again, Democrats launch “
WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris rebuked Republican nominee Donald Trump for not agreeing to hold another presidential debate before polls close on Nov. 5, though he appeared to have no plans to change his mind.
“Let’s have another debate,” Democratic candidate Harris said on Sunday. “There’s more to talk about, and American voters deserve to hear the conversations I think we should be having about substance, issues and policy.”
Harris and Trump first debate on September 10, but so far, the two campaigns have not reached an agreement with another news organization to hold a second debate. Two days after their only debate to date, Trump declareHe wouldn’t agree with anyone else.
Harris-Walz campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon issued a written statement this weekend announcing Harris’ agreement to participate in the Oct. 23 CNN debate and urging Trump to do the same.
“Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate,” Dillon wrote. “This is the same format and setting as the CNN debate he participated in in June and said he won, when he praised CNN’s moderators, rules and ratings.”

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Trump and then-Democratic candidate Joe Biden held final debate October 22nd.

To promote Trump’s participation in the debate, the Democratic National Committee paid for mobile billboards calling him a “chicken” and showing him wearing a yellow chicken costume. Those adverts, along with a second one seeking to tie him to Project 2025, will be set up in Pennsylvania on Monday night before the campaign ends.
Abhi Rahman, deputy communications director for the Democratic National Committee, wrote in a statement chicken billboard Trump has previously said he will hold debates anytime and anywhere.
“The American people deserve another chance to hear Vice President Harris and Donald Trump stand side by side to lay out their contrasting visions for our country before Election Day,” Rahman wrote. “Instead, Trump is busy hiding from the American people because he knows they will reject his Plan 2025 agenda of raising taxes on the middle class, banning abortion nationwide, and using the federal government to exercise virtually unlimited power over our daily lives.

The vice presidential candidates are scheduled to hold a debate in New York City on October 1, hosted by CBS. Unless Trump changes his mind, this will be the final debate of the cycle.

Campaign travel will continue to be a focus for Republicans and Democrats this week, with just over six weeks until the polls close.

Trump will talk about his tax plan in Savannah, Georgia, on Tuesday before traveling to Mint Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday. On Friday, he plans to make two stops in Michigan; the first in Walker and the second in Warren.
Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz is expected to hold a campaign reception in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Tuesday.
Republican vice presidential candidate and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance will not appear on Capitol Hill during the final week of sessions before the election, but will participate in campaign events.
Vance is scheduled to arrive in Traverse City, Miss., on Wednesday, make two stops in Georgia on Thursday and travel to Newton, Pa., on Saturday.
